Description
White-throated Sparrow
20” x 16” Acrylic on Canvas
by Pamela Watson
Painted after a quiet early spring encounter at Lake Roland Park in Baltimore County, this original acrylic painting captures a White-throated Sparrow partially hidden among fresh spring vegetation during migration season.
The painting was inspired by a chilly morning spent listening to the woods fill with birdsong as migrating songbirds moved through the landscape. At first, the small sparrow almost disappeared into the greens and soft textures of the forest floor—a fleeting moment of stillness and observation that became central to the piece.
Rather than focusing only on the bird itself, the painting explores themes of migration, refuge, seasonal transition, and the quiet presence of wildlife often overlooked in everyday life.
This work is part of Pamela Watson’s ongoing exploration of bird migration, habitat, and the emotional connections between movement, place, and survival.
Original acrylic painting on canvas.
