Water Tower View #2
5.5” x 8.5” • Ink on Tan Toned Paper
Created during a student study trip to New York City with the IPFW art department, Water Tower View #2 reflects Pamela Robinson’s fascination with the layered textures and silhouettes of the urban skyline. Drawn from the window of her hotel room, this small ink study captures the quiet drama of everyday architecture.
Using black and white ink on warm tan toned paper, the drawing features a tall building with a wall of darkened windows and a fire escape descending the side. Atop the structure, classic NYC water towers rise against a backdrop of silhouetted rooftops and distant buildings. The use of toned paper provides a rich mid-tone base, allowing the interplay of shadow and highlight to create depth and mood.
This piece is part of a series of urban studies that explore the beauty of overlooked city structures and fleeting travel moments. Water Tower View #2 is perfect for collectors who appreciate architectural sketches, plein air drawing, and scenes that celebrate the quiet elegance of the built environment.
