Description
Solitary Egret — Migration Series
20” x 16” acrylic on canvas
This original acrylic painting captures a solitary egret standing quietly in the marsh grasses of the Florida Everglades — a moment of stillness within a living, breathing landscape. Inspired by a photograph taken by a friend of my daughter, this piece became part of my ongoing Migration Series, which explores movement, refuge, and resilience in both human and ecological contexts.
Painting this work was a grounding, meditative process — slowing down to observe posture, light, and space while reflecting on the wider currents shaping our world. The egret’s calm presence offers a sense of pause and steadiness, making this piece especially resonant for spaces meant for reflection, rest, or creative focus.
