Drawn in the quiet corners of graduate school life, My Squirrel Friend at Hidden Valley captures one of the artist’s most frequent (and mischievous) visitors. Created in 2015 while Pamela Casarez was living in her Kentwood, Michigan apartment, this charming ink drawing pays tribute to the overly pampered squirrels who became beloved—and slightly infamous—residents of the complex.

In fact, they were so well-fed by tenants that the apartment manager eventually had to send out a letter asking people to stop spoiling them.

This small, expressive piece reflects a lighthearted moment of daily life and the artist’s love for observing the personalities of the animals around her. A sweet and humorous addition to any collection.
