The Point, Hanover College
7.5” x 10” • Watercolor on Paper
Painted en plein air on a quiet January day in 2010, The Point, Hanover College captures one of the most iconic and beloved views on the Hanover campus. Created during a visit to help her daughter with theatre set design, Pamela Turnbow found a moment of stillness and reflection while overlooking the sweeping curve of the Ohio River.
Rendered in soft, wintry shades of gray and blue, this 7.5” x 10” watercolor evokes the quiet solitude of the season. In the distance, the faint silhouette of a power plant smokestack rises into the sky—an unexpected but familiar marker on the horizon. The gentle bend of the river, so central to the Hanover experience, draws the eye and the heart alike.
For the artist, The Point is more than a scenic overlook—it is a place layered with memory, emotion, and connection. Every visit brings a rush of nostalgia, making this piece a personal tribute as well as a visual one.
The Point, Hanover College is perfect for collectors drawn to college town charm, riverside landscapes, or artwork rich with personal meaning and place-based storytelling.
