Deer’s Mill Covered Bridge is the 7th painting in Pamela S. Watson’s evocative series capturing the covered bridges of Indiana. Painted in acrylic on watercolor paper, this piece offers a soft, light-filled view of Deer’s Mill as seen from the highway approach—framed by a lacy canopy of trees and bathed in warm morning sun.

The bright sunlight washes over the red exterior of the bridge, gently fading it to a warm pink hue. Light streams through the small windows inside the bridge, creating a glowing effect that suggests both passage and peace. This is one of the more delicate portrayals in the series, capturing not only the structure’s charm but also the quiet atmosphere surrounding it.

Pamela, an MFA-trained artist and Indiana native, is working on a large-scale project to document the remaining covered bridges across the state through both painting and historical research. Her goal is to preserve these iconic landmarks through art and storytelling.
