Painted on April 9, 2020, April at The Point captures a view that holds deep personal meaning for the artist. Set on the scenic bluff overlooking the Ohio River at Hanover College, this plein air watercolor reflects not only the beauty of early spring in southern Indiana, but also a long-standing family connection. The artist and all three of her children are graduates of Hanover, making this view one she has returned to with both brush and memory many times over the years.

On this particular visit, the artist’s eldest daughter was a freshman, and the moment was marked by quiet reflection and the unfolding of a new season—both in nature and in life. Soft greens and early spring hues fill the composition, gently capturing the transitional light and emerging growth of the landscape.
