Title: Under Branches of Memory
Medium & Size: 9.5″ x 14.5″, mixed media (watercolor, ink, gouache) on paper
Under Branches of Memory began with an old, unfinished drawing—set aside years ago, but never forgotten. Revived with watercolor, ink, and gouache, it became a deeply emotional work about time, transformation, and the weight of what lingers.
A vast tree, rendered in expressive ink, dominates the scene. Beneath its heavy canopy, small figures sit quietly, their presence humbled by the tree’s scale and intensity. A lone crow flies below its branches, a dark messenger in motion, while a river—flushed with pink—winds toward distant mountains beneath a moody purple sky.
The painting carries both stillness and movement, rootedness and flight. It speaks to memory itself: how fragments left behind can grow into something unexpected and profound when revisited.
