Set at Strawberry Hill Farm in Sparks, Maryland, this mixed media piece layers watercolor, markers, pastel, and ink to express the richness of the moment — from the golden highlights in the trees to the lively movement of chickens under the branches.

Though the composition had been painted before, this version posed a fresh challenge. The colors were so vivid they felt almost unreal, and capturing their intensity required experimentation and a fearless approach to media.
