Memory Behind the Painting: Taking a Stand
🎨 Acrylic on Canvas, 36” x 24”
By Pamela S. Watson (2015)
I painted Taking a Stand after a powerful trip to Yellowstone National Park in 2015. I had the chance to observe a large herd of buffalo—majestic and quietly commanding—and their presence stirred something deep in me.
The painting became more than just a scene; it’s a reflection on the ongoing struggle for Native Americans to move forward within systems that have long pushed them to the edge. The buffalo stands as a symbol of strength, endurance, and quiet resistance.
This piece has stayed close to my heart ever since.
🖼️ The original painting is available and located in Indiana—local delivery can be arranged.
