Title: Campsite Sentinel
Medium: Gouache and Ink on Paper
Dimensions: 14″ x 17″
Signed: Pamela Watson
Painted on location in 2014 during a camping trip to Yellowstone National Park, “Campsite Sentinel” captures the quiet strength and rustic charm of life outdoors. The central figure is a towering pine tree—the silent guardian of the campsite—rendered in vivid greens and anchored by expressive ink lines that give the scene both structure and spontaneity.
At its base, a picnic table dotted with cooking supplies and a nearby canvas supply tent evoke the grounded simplicity of living in nature. In the distance, a row of trees rises against a bold, deep blue sky, creating a strong visual contrast and depth.
With thick, energetic lines and saturated color, this plein air painting pulses with the movement of wind, campfire chatter, and the artist’s deep appreciation for the raw beauty of Yellowstone. It’s both a visual diary and an invitation to pause and feel the stillness and aliveness of the wild.
