Where Beginnings Rise is a powerful semi-abstract exploration of emergence, transformation, and the unseen energies that shape personal and cultural identity. Created during a pivotal period in the artist’s academic and spiritual journey, this piece reflects both internal evolution and broader themes of representation. At the time, the artist was researching the portrayal of Native Americans in comic books and navigating a deep shift in her own beliefs and worldview.

The composition features three loosely drawn figures standing atop a globe-like form, surrounded by a sky filled with gestural, moving lines. Dark ink shapes, rich copper acrylic paint, and the stark white of the paper collide to create a dramatic and layered scene—charged with movement, mystery, and meaning.

Part of a larger body of work developed during the artist’s studies at the University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and continuing into her time at Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Where Beginnings Rise captures a moment of energetic questioning, rooted both in personal history and collective story.
