Standing Against the Wind
9” x 12” oil on canvas, signed Pamela Robinson
Original painting by Pamela S. Watson, MFA
Standing Against the Wind is a contemplative oil painting inspired by Pamela Watson’s journey through the Pacific Northwest. Drawing from the dramatic coastline near Tillamook Rock Lighthouse, this work captures the rugged beauty and resilience found along the shores of Oregon.
Painted in rich shades of purple and blue, the sky and distant rocky outcroppings evoke a moody, windswept atmosphere, while the ocean below reflects the cool tones of the sky. A lone evergreen tree—dark green and silhouetted—stands tall and unyielding against the breeze, its shape etched into the soft glow of backlight. The tree becomes a symbol of quiet strength and rooted presence amidst shifting elements.
Part of a series inspired by Olympia National Park and Cannon Beach, this painting is a tribute to the awe-inspiring landscapes of the Pacific coast and the powerful sense of solitude they offer.
