Jackson Covered Bridge is the 26th painting in Pamela S. Watson’s ongoing series documenting the remaining covered bridges of Indiana. Painted in acrylic on watercolor paper, this composition captures one of Parke County’s most beloved bridges from a rarely seen and striking perspective—beneath the structure itself.

In this sunlit summer scene, the white side of the bridge angles diagonally from the upper left toward the right, offering a glimpse of the understructure and the graceful aging of its beams. A nearby tree casts a delicate lacework of purple shadows over the bridge, softening the warm tones of the sunlit wood. Below, gentle reflections of the bridge and surrounding tree-lined banks ripple through the surface of the creek, lending harmony and balance to the scene.

This painting is part of Pamela’s large-scale project to document Indiana’s covered bridges through both art and research, preserving not only the architecture but also the lived experience of each site.
