Jackson Covered Bridge – #25 in Series
8.5” x 5.5” acrylic on watercolor paper, signed Pamela Watson (2019)

Jackson Covered Bridge is the 25th painting in Pamela S. Watson’s celebrated series documenting the covered bridges of Indiana. Rendered in acrylic on watercolor paper, this piece features the well-known Jackson Bridge in Parke County—one of the most popular and easily accessible of Indiana’s remaining historic bridges.

Painted from a low vantage point along the riverbank, the artwork presents a serene side view of the crisp white bridge contrasted against the rich greens of the surrounding trees. Their reflections shimmer gently in the water, which flows lazily beneath the bridge, suggesting a peaceful summer day. When the artist visited to photograph the site, a group of canoeists happened to be making their way down the creek—adding to the sense of timeless leisure and local tradition that infuses this piece.

As part of her larger project combining fine art and historical preservation, Pamela continues to seek out and record these landmarks across the state. Jackson Covered Bridge – #25 in Series not only captures a beloved structure, but invites viewers to slow down, take in the landscape, and reconnect with Indiana’s rural heritage.
