Dunbar Covered Bridge – #18 in Series
7.75” x 5.5” acrylic on watercolor paper, signed Pamela Watson (2019)
Dunbar Covered Bridge is the 18th painting in Pamela S. Watson’s ongoing series documenting the covered bridges of Indiana. Painted in acrylic on watercolor paper, this piece captures the timeless charm of the Dunbar Bridge in Putnam County, located just outside of Greencastle.
For Pamela, this bridge holds special personal meaning. She fondly remembers crossing it many times with her grandparents, especially during fall drives when photographing covered bridges became a cherished family tradition. That memory, layered with seasonal color and rural nostalgia, shines through in this work.
With expressive brushstrokes and a strong sense of place, Dunbar Covered Bridge invites viewers into a moment suspended in time—a tribute not only to Indiana’s architectural heritage, but also to the personal stories woven through these historic crossings. This painting is part of a larger effort by the artist to preserve and honor the remaining covered bridges of her home state through art, memory, and historical documentation.
