Back Through Time
24” x 18” • Acrylic on Canvas • Pamela Watson
Back Through Time captures the quiet majesty of a covered bridge nestled in the timeless landscape of Parke County, Indiana. Painted in acrylic on canvas, the deep red of the simple wooden structure stands in striking contrast to the luminous glow of the surrounding landscape. A winding road leads the viewer through the bridge and gently curves off into the distance, drawing the eye—and the imagination—into the past.
Towering trees frame the bridge, their backs lit with golden light, adding a sense of drama and reverence. The artist was moved by the scene during a visit to gather photo references and described the experience as stepping into another era—one where you might expect a mastodon to emerge from the shadows beneath the bridge.
Rendered with an almost spiritual quality, the painting celebrates not only the historic charm of Indiana’s covered bridges but also the sense of wonder and timelessness that places like this continue to inspire.
