Coastal Tempest captures the wild, untamed beauty of the Oregon coast in a moment of looming weather and crashing surf. A towering cliff anchors the left side of the canvas, its rugged face descending from the top corner to the rocky shoreline below. Just offshore, a solitary rock juts defiantly out of the ocean as waves crash relentlessly against its base.

The sky is heavy with approaching rain, casting cool tones and diffused light across the scene. Painted in rich, expressive brushwork, the piece evokes the chill of sea spray, the sound of wind tearing through the air, and the awe that comes from standing at the edge of land looking out into the storm.
