Met Study #3
5.5” x 8.5” • Ink on Toned Paper •
Met Study #3 is a small yet evocative ink drawing completed on-site at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City during a student trip with the IPFW art department in 2012. Created with black and white ink on warm toned paper, the study captures a classical sculpture—its body intact, but its head missing—highlighting the tension between timeless form and the passage of history.
Rendered with a confident, economical line, the drawing emphasizes gesture and mass, allowing the figure’s strength and beauty to come through despite its fragmented state. The toned paper adds depth and warmth, while the use of white ink brings subtle highlights to the form, mimicking light falling across ancient marble.
This 5.5” x 8.5” piece speaks to the artist’s early training in observation and classical form, making it an ideal addition for collectors who appreciate museum studies, figure drawing, or works that honor the legacy of antiquity through contemporary eyes.
