Painted en plein air during the Hamilton Plein Air Festival, Whispers at Albion Falls captures the layered beauty and quiet rhythm of one of Ontario’s most iconic waterfalls. Nestled into the rocky terrain of Hamilton, Albion Falls provided a soothing soundtrack of cascading water as Pamela Watson created this mixed media piece on site.

What began as a promising start became a journey of rediscovery—the painting was temporarily set aside, only to be revisited and brought to life with renewed energy and intention. The result is a richly textured work of art that blends watercolor and gouache with delicate overlays of ink and pastel pencil, adding subtle movement and lyrical detail.

Cool greens and soft golden tones dance across the surface, while the deep purples of the rock ledges provide striking contrast to the blue and yellow shimmer of the falling water.
